Hi there! This podcast came about because I (Clayton), a former student of Susan’s, had a desire to make her lectures from BYU available to all. If you don’t know, Susan Easton Black is a beloved and respected professor and lecturer on the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her upbeat, faithful style is truly unique and has helped many get a foundational understanding of this important subject.
Susan taught at Brigham Young University for many years and has written over 200 books and even more articles, mostly on the subject mentioned above. She has served multiple church missions with her husband since retiring, and has spoken in many other settings. We’re very lucky to have her!
The podcast is made up of 26 episodes that cover the lifetime of Joseph Smith, the prophet of God called to restore Christ’s church and kingdom on the Earth prior to the Second Coming of the Savior. Joseph’s lifetime was from 1805 to 1844. I will also throw in some special “on location” episodes, probably video-only, for several of the places we talk about.
I, Clayton, act as kind of the host/technical person/music person, trying my best to bring what I can to the podcast. I presently reside in Kansas. Susan comes to us from Provo, UT (we record remotely).
There is an audio version of the podcast, available via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc., and a video version, available via YouTube.
We’re glad you’re here! We hope you gain something from this podcast and that it is a blessing to you as these things have been to us.
